What the river taught me about complexity and a Woman’s capacity to hold life.
Rivers don’t simplify complexity — and neither should we.
As a river scientist, kayaker, mother, and architect of living systems, I’ve learned that real capacity isn’t about doing more. It’s about building structures that can hold variability and slow our lives — the way wood in healthy rivers creates mosaicked, complex landscapes where life rejuvenates and thrives.
Meet Rui: The Butler
Rui is our Butler (and Digital Janitor). Our cheerful and simple smile at the door before you walk in. So grateful for his presence to weave us together in non-complicate ways and to remind us all to stop and truly and simply be with one another. From a technical standpoint, Rui is the one who will be keeping track of all of us (facilitators, members, staff, collaborators) and reminding us that we exist in a beautiful ecosystem together and that we belong here, that we are valued, no matter what we do.
Meet Carrie: Keeper of the Space
We’re thrilled to have Carrie join The Missing Corner as our new Keeper of the Space, bringing her care, her devotion to community and her no-nonsense get it done attitude to making sure the Missing Corner is kept welcoming and tidy.
Meet Amber: The Steward
Amber is a powerhouse in all respects of the term. She is making the Missing corner fit to fly. She is the woman behind making sure all the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted. She brings her love of people, her love of having fun and infectious laugh to everything she does.
Meet Natalie: Wayfinder & Owner
Natalie is the vision holder. Her favorite quote is “The anchors you choose are what sets you free”. She doesn’t remember who said that or where she heard it, but it has stuck with her for years. The Missing Corner is one of her anchors.
