What is it?
Azure Standard is an online grocery distributor connecting farmers straight to consumers where you can order bulk pantry items or really any normal earth friendly groceries or home goods/products. They deliver twice per month to the Missing Corner.
Unlike most drop sites, we don’t require you to be present at the drop time and day. We have a large covered porch and a chest freezer on the deck that is used to store items until they can be picked up. We do ask that you pick up your groceries the same day they are delivered.
If you are able to join Mary, our drop coordinator, at the time of the drop, it is greatly appreciated since there are often lots of large boxes and bags to move around and having another hand is super helpful.
How to Sign Up?
You need to place an order on Azure Standard Website and choose “The Missing Corner” as your drop site before the ordering deadline posted for our drop. In the past, the order is typically due by 4:00pm on a Tuesday and the drop most often happens Thursday mid morning around 11, but it isn't guaranteed to fall that way and the day and time can change last minute.
We ask that you either pay a per visit $5 drop fee (Honor System, venmo or cash onsite) or become a member of the Missing Corner at Oak level $60/yr or higher. This money supports the facility (bathrooms, plow, electricity etc) and the coordinator who meets the truck and unloads and sorts your groceries. Again, we don’t require you to be present at drop times, but it is much appreciated if you are able!
Join our WhatsApp group. This is the primary means that the drop coordinator sends you reminders and lets you know if the drop time or day changes. The group can also be used to coordinate with other families using the drop for bulk order shares or trading /getting help on picking up the order and getting it to your house.
Meet Mary, Your Drop Coordinator!
The drop truck is met and managed by Mary Kissinger. Mary meets the truck unloads, sorts, checks to make sure nothing is missing and sends a text to folks about the delivery through the WhatsApp group.
Mary is a mother to Benny and Millaine and lives with her kids, husband Josh and chickens in the Northwestern Park area. She loves spending her energy finding ways to support farming practices that nourish our bodies and the environment because consuming high quality food and drink makes a huge difference for the health of ourselves, our families, our communities and our world. She is grateful to be a drop coordinator at the Missing Corner for Azure because this work aligns with her life mission and she gets to support ethical and sustainable farming by changing the way she and people around her spend money on food.
